Commissioned by the Dutch Istvan Juhasz Stichting, K. H. Miskotte’s major theological work When the Gods Are Silent (Dutch: Als de goden zwijgen, 1956; subtitle: On the Meaning of the Old Testament) is being translated into Hungarian from me.
Miskotte, one of the most original Reformed theologians of the twentieth century, engages here with the history of religions, philosophy and dialectical theology to explore the lasting significance of the Old Testament. The translation will be accompanied by commentary that helps Hungarian-speaking readers understand the historical, theological and cultural background of the book.
The project runs from 2025 to 2027, with publication by Exit Publishing House in Cluj planned for 2027. A fascinating theological work will thus become available to Hungarian readers for the first time.
